Divine Foreknowledge, ch. 4
In this chapter, Paul Helm defends Augustinian-Calvinist view of divine foreknowledge. He constructs three main arguments while interweaving responses to objections as well as attacks on opposing views. His three main arguments consider the following:
1. Foreknowledge, Freedom and Divine Grace
2. Divine Perfection and Providence
3. The Incompatibility of Divine Foreknowledge and Human Freedom
Important to his view is the concept of 'fixed points' or the theology that God has created all things and those things are ordered and governed by Him.
The responses to Helm are, not surprisingly, focused on driving Helm to fatalism and drawing the conclusion that fatalism leaves God to blame for sin, evil and the Fall of man. I agree.
