Divine Foreknowledge, ch. 1
Chapter 1 begins with the first of four views on 'Divine Foreknowledge', Open Theism. Gregory Boyd winsomely presents his arguments for open theism which believes that God, while omniscient (maintains Boyd), is limited in what He can know about the future because of the content of reality embedded in creation. Boyd makes the claim that this position is the product of placing Scripture before philosophy, unlike the other views. In response to this position, the other three authors accuse Boyd of smoke and mirrors by making such a claim. Each author offers different and at times overlapping issues with Boyd's view and presentation. In general, my own position is that Boyd's view is that it seeks to swing the pendulum away from 'classical theism' so far that it costs more than it even realizes. I will, in the summary, briefly state my own position.
