Kingdom Triangle Summary
Kingdom triangle has challenged me in new ways. I have walked away with so many questions about my own ministry and how I can apply this book. Some of the major questions I am asking are as follows:
- How can I pastor people who are indoctrinated in scientism/postmodernism? Where do I begin?
- What are the items of belief that I do not truly hold?
- What areas of my life/ministry require God’s existence to explain them?
I am so thankful for this book. I am eager to dive into the rest of the book. It will be difficult to move onto a new book without finishing this one. There are a number of action steps I have for my current ministry setting.
First, I would like to find simple and appropriate way for people to share how God is supernaturally answering their prayers. I am thinking an e-mail address or facebook page where people can report in, and we can follow up as a pastoral staff as we see fit. This would provide the encouragement and faith-building Moreland suggests.
Second, I would like to regularly answer difficult questions that my teens have in an authoritative way demonstrating the certainty they can have and the reality that God’s Word applies to all aspects of life. I think this would be a positive step toward dismantling the postmodern approach to truth many of them have.
Third, I am going to begin to keep track of “Questions and Quests” during my times with the Lord. I am going to write out questions, my level of doubt and where I am struggling in my beliefs so that I can attack areas of doubt. I am also going to set RISK goals and identify places where I need God to show up if I will succeed.
Fourth, as I am going into my Introduction of Philosophy class this Fall, I am going to be more bold in my assertion of Christian truth. I will do so in a clear, winsome, and classically tolerant way, but asserting my position. I think my previous hesitancy has propagated the post-modern mentality toward truth and therefore neutered the gospel’s power in that setting.
This book has been challenging. As the first book out of the gate, I am deeply impacted. I can’t imagine what lies ahead as I read the next one.
