Naming the Elephant, ch. 1

Today I began 'Naming the Elephant' by James Sire. I was surprised to find in this chapter that Dr. Sire is correcting what he believes to be 'dissatisfaction with the way I defined a worldview in the first edition of the Universe Next Door. I read that book when I was in college and much of my understanding of worldviews was drawn from its pages. I am eager to see how this book develops.

Dr. Sire suggests that worldviews have two central characteristics which are presuppositions and possible answers to foundational questions (he offers 7 foundational questions as well). He defines a worldview as 'a set of presuppositions which we hold about the basic makeup of the world.'
