Is God a Moral Monster? ch. 8

Copan continues his treatment of kooky food laws found in the Old Testament. I appreciated the great care Copan shows in demonstrating the symbolism behind some of the laws that existed in Israel. It would be easy to leave things at the end of the last chapter. However, this chapter gives rise to the ethic behind the cultural/national laws being made. We can know that these had a point that can be appreciated, even by the modern ear. Copan frames the discussion in 'wrong responses' to kooky laws. The one I have always heard is hygiene. I am certain I have used that myself. I am glad he disabused me as well as others of this position.
