Is God a Moral Monster? ch. 3
Copan sets out in this chapter to demonstrate that God is not a praise-hungry, self-centered deity, but a "humble, self-giving, other-centered being". Copan spends most of his time explaining what humility is as well as what God's character must be in relationship to humans. In so doing, he shows how God can demand praise and be gracious and humble at the same time. Basically, humility, for Copan (I agree), is more about knowing yourself properly than pretending to be less than you are. He most clearly illustrates God's humility by pointing to God's self-giving, triune nature, willingness to take on flesh as a human, and death on the cross.
