Is God a Moral Monster? ch. 6
This was an interesting chapter for me. It really changed the way that I think about God, ethics, and even culture. To think of God as a culture shaper who is working in the flawed and broken system of human culture to bring a better, but not always right (maybe best possible?) ethical standard is interesting to me. To be honest, I don't know what to do with it. It makes logical sense, but I am struggling with some previously held theological commitments, such as God's timeless ethics. I admit that I have to defer to Copan, an ethicist by trade, on this one. His insistence on the temporary nature of the Mosaic law seems to be the crux of the matter for him (I agree).
