Truth & The New Kind of Christian, Ch. 4 and 5
Working a bit in academics, I was not surprised to see Smith's accurate report of the state of our schools. He works through major areas of thought like science, law and sociology to name a few. Leaving us with the view that, in our schools, anything non-physical is a constructed reality. A sad state of affairs, indeed.
As we analyze the roots of post-modernism, we see the self-defeating nonsense of the claims. Saying truth is constructed is merely a constructed truth and ultimately has no meaning to me as I am not in that culture or moment in time which it was spoken. Beyond that, in order for language to exist in the first place,we must have an objective agreement about what we are talking about that is outside our language. It cannot be constructed. It becomes clear to me how far post-modernism strays from Aristotle's definition of truth.
