Politics according to the Bible, ch. 2

Chapter 2 sets out Grudem's view of politics that he believes is correct. I agree. The "significant influence" view says that "Christians should seek to influence civil government according to God's moral standards and God's purposes for government... while... simultaneously insist(ing) on protecting freedom of religion for all citizens." Building off of the OT and NT with copious examples from biblical characters, Grudem makes a strong case for this position. I especially appreciated his section answering the question "Is the United States a Christian Nation?" Grudem is careful to nuance Christians candidates from voting on issues/policies, teaching on political issues in the church as well as obligations of Christians as it pertains to government.
