Wisdom
I ran across an interesting quote. I wanted to see what you think. Leave a post waxing eloquent about this quote:
"Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be kept safe."
Please comment when you get a chance. I still would like to hear thoughts on beauty as well (the post below).

maybe it means acc. to sanskrit saying
"he who follows the path of great mens will be successful and will never suffer sorrow."
Hmmm..at first I didn't know what to make of this, but I'm willing to make a stab at it. Trusting only our own experience (his own mind) is foolish because we only have what we know SO FAR. Wisdom is bigger than us. It speaks of knowing and accepting some universal truths that have been proven over time. Some grandparents have wisdom and not because they are old, but but because they have lived a long life and have seen more of the big picture. In other words, basing your decisions solely on instinct is foolish (sometime it does work, though), but getting good advice from those who have gone before (getting all the facts) and THEN projecting toward the future is "safe". Gosh, I'm not sure that made sense outside of my own head. :)

How does one know he's walking in wisdom if he doesn't trust in his own mind?
Re-reading my short response, I hope I didn’t come off as trying to be cute. I’m totally not. I guess my question is if we don’t trust our own minds to at least some degree, how can we be sure of what we know?
Then again, it’s interesting – “walking in wisdom” – that phrase makes me think that “wisdom” is outside of ourselves. Otherwise, how could we walk in it?
These are great thoughts. I agree with you, Brett, that it seems like Wisdom is outside of ourselves, but why does that demand that we walk in it? How are we to know what is wise and what is not. I will tell this week where the quote came from. This has been fun. I think I will try to post quotes for discussion from time to time.
Hey mysterious "huh?" person,
I have posted quite extensively on wisdom in the knowing series. I made it VERY clear in those postings that wisdom is very different than how most people understand it and that Jesus Himself was the Wisdom embodied. He was referred to as "Logos" (greek word) by John one which is where we get our word logic, but means word or wisdom. Wisdom most certainly could be trusting not in your own mind, but in the mind of another more wise than you.
I appreciate your comment about me never following up on anything, rather than moving on to the next vague topic. I want to be challenged and certainly have it pointed out if I do not do something I claim I will do. I have come back to the topics I have claimed to come back to with the exception of the list of topics I plan to cover in the future and beauty, both of which I plan to cover.
As far as the vague topics comment. I am purposely vague so as not to shape the opinion of the person reading/commenting. I don't want to be too specific or define everything out so that people can discuss without my opinions already inserted. I think this is especially important for beauty since it is a topic most people have spent little time thinking about.
At any rate, thanks for stopping by. I hope you will continue to discuss my vague and obscure topics.
