Body, Soul & Life Everlasting, ch. 4

Most books on theology do not spend much time on the intertestamental period. I am glad to see Cooper take this up here. I think it is helpful in seeking cohesiveness in the case he is trying to build. Considering the Sadduccees and Pharisees may seem like a negative thing in light of our New Testament experience with them, but we often forget that they were the believers for a significant chunk of Judeo-Christian history. He seems careful to conclude that many of the people at this time avoided a philosophical approach to this subject.
